West Tennessee Pony Club Horse Show

25th Anniversary

September 26-27, 2003

The mission of the United States Pony Clubs is to provide a program for youth that teaches riding, mounted sports, and the care of horses and ponies, thereby developing responsibility, moral judgment, leadership and self-confidence.
Pony Club is one of the leading junior equestrian organizations (through age 21) in the world, represented throughout 30 countries! The United States has over 600 individual Clubs spread throughout 48 states and the Virgin Islands, with more than 12,000 members.
It is not necessary for a child to own a horse or pony, but they must have access to one when required. Programs are offered in dressage, eventing, show jumping, mounted games, tetrathlon, quiz, vaulting, foxhunting, and polocrosse.
Pony Club’s inclusion of “horse management” in all of its programs distinguishes it from virtually every other equestrian organization. Members are judged on their care of their mounts and their knowledge of horse management in all competitions. Significant resources are committed to teaching and training our members in all of these areas. Members go through testing and receive ratings based on Pony Club Standards judging both their riding ability and their horse management knowledge and skills. Many US Equestrian Olympians are Pony Club graduates, and upper rated Pony Clubbers are recognized throughout the equestrian world for their knowledge, skills and abilities.
West Tennessee Pony Club (WTPC) is the local USPC club. We are part of the Mid South Region which includes Tennessee, Kentucky, and parts of southern Ohio, southern Illinois, and northern Alabama. Our members come from the Memphis/Shelby County area as well as surrounding counties in West Tennessee and Northwest Mississippi.
Formed in 1976, our club has been active for more than a quarter of a century. This horse show was started as a fund raising activity twenty five years ago remaining our key fund raiser for all of our activities. Thank you for helping support our programs.

Our club has approximately thirty members and is run by our dedicated parent volunteers. If you are interested in learning more about our club, or you wish to join. please see any of our parents or stop by the show office.
